** Using VB-Mapp to guide an intervention program for children with autism, Dr. Mark Sundberg, September 22,23,24, 2010, Natural Resource Center, 110 S. Amity, Conway.  $399 per person includes  one protocol.  Seating limited, register by August 31.  Children with autism often present special behavioral, linguistic, and social challenges to parents and teachers.  It is often difficult to determine exactly where to start an intervention program and to know if it is having the desired effect.  This workshop will provide the participants with sound evidence-based assessment and intervention methods based on Behavior Analysis.  The first step in designing an intervention program is an individualized assessment of the child's needs.  As assessment tool that can accomplish this task will be presented (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placment Program or VB-MAPP).  Once a child's specific language, social skill and behavioral deficits are identified, an intervention program can be designed.  The primary focus of this training will be to use the assessment results to set up and conduct daily language and social skills intervention programs.  Participants will learn how to use discrete trial training, natural environmental training and B.F. Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior for teaching children with autism.  Additionally, information will be provided on setting up a verbal behavior classroom, writing effective and appropriate IEP goals, collecting data, addressing problem behaviors in the home/classroom, improving vocal skills, choosing augmentative communication systems, transitioning to a less restrictive environment, developing social and peer interaction, and developing parent-professional collaboration. ** FRIEND Program, Fostering Relationships in Early Network Development, Improving Social Communication and Social Skills, Sept. 27, at  950 Hogan Lane in Conway, Sept. 28 at Nonprofit Center in Rogers, $149 per person, lunch and materials included, 8:30-3:30, NO REFUNDS, but name substitutions will be accepted. Co-Teaching Descriptions:

**The Ins and Outs of Co-Teaching- one half day-As more students with disabilities receive their special education services in the general education classroom, it is critical that everyone involved have a better understanding of the co-teaching model in order to take full advantage of its potential.  Using an interactive co-taught format, the two co-presenters will draw upon their knowledge of co-teaching research and their own personal experiences with co-teaching to provide an overview of the model for participants interested in creating a new co-teaching program or enhancing an existing one. 

**Differentiated Instruction in the Elementary Co-Taught Classroom-one full day, limited to 50 participants-This co-taught , interactive session is designed to extend the knowledge and enhance the instruction of elementary co-teachers who already have foundational understanding of the co-teaching model by providing them with an opportunity to explore specific differentiated classroom practices. 

**Differentiated Instruction in the Middle School and Secondary Co-Taught Classroom-one full day, limited to 50 participants- This co-taught interactive session is designed to extend the knowledge and enhance the insruction of middle and secondary co-teachers who already have foundational understanding of the co-teaching model by providing them with an opportunity to explore specific differentiated classroom practices.
